Who we are.

We are a small, but fine, Germany based design studio dedicated to creating funktional, stylish, sustainable and outstanding design, aiming for international clients and various markets, always observing potential requirements of the future.

We offer comprehensive design service for many industries and various branches. And we are proud to also drawing exclusive and customised designs for our valued private clients and family offices. 

We are creating typical industrial and product design solutions as well as stunning residential and commercial interiors.

We love designing exterior and interior of sailing yachts and power boats, starting from tiny dinghies and not being afraid of scaling up to super- and mega yacht projects.

Yet our devotion is never a matter of size and reputation. It is always driven by the distinctiveness of the specific project and the people running it, from financial baker to -of course- the builder-owner, up to the many artisan and mechanic giving their very best to realising our designs. It is all about team work to achieving the very complex and outstanding artefacts in our time. 

We also share enthusiasm in cars and their electrification, in eVTOL and similar projects, and we are designing and illustrating for the automotive sector. 

Next to that we love to creating corporate logo and enhancing your graphic design and over all brand appearance.

For some of our cross media projects and all developments of larger scale we love to team up with some valued colleagues of ours. No worries: There is no hassle for you, as project ownership is always clearly defined.

Last but not least we are also highly committed in project management for our clients.

Design Cell Europe has been found by German professional Christian Ell in 2018 with the aim to developing into an exclusive and acknowledged studio during the years to come.

We are proud of our strong skills in conceptional design thinking and our general excitement for design and style of all sort. We trust in our state of the art design proficiencies of various kind and we are very proud of being involved in real world projects most of the time, which is spending sort of sense and fulfilment to what we are conducting to the world we all live in. 

From what we hear from our clients and friends, we seem to be a bit different compared to many other design studios and agencies. And we are very happy with that specific characteristic. That is certainly the way - our way, and the way of many of our valued clients when working together. 

The reason for offering design services in so many sectors is very simple: Many of the skills needed to creating handsome designs for sector A are often also very helpful, and sometimes even sort of similar to the very specific skills needed of a sector B. 

Another reason can be found in the vita of CEO and Founder Christian Ell: During his career he developed from drawing cars and trucks at school and creating logos, icons and ready mades as well as small furniture and pared-down objects as adolescent. He then studied product and transportation design, focusing on trucks and yachts and got some work experience in the car industry. He temporarily freelanced in that field, spent a couple of years designing all kind of yachts in a world famous office in the UK and thereafter he got involved in project managing and design for cruise ships and river cruise vessels at a German interior specialist. 

 "It just made sense to me offering that whole bunch of flowers to our clients", says Christian. "And our customers just love my broad experience across branches and our spaced out view on many things - and they are surely benefiting from that approach." 

Another plus:  The prices for our services are considerably lower than the design industries average. Reason being our location and Christians general aspiration to life. We are not situated in any prime spot or place to be. We love  working from a nice, but small town near Strasburg, Baden-Baden and Stuttgart at the foot of beautiful Black Forest, not aiming for any withdrawn lifestyle or similar. We just want to make a living of what we are doing.

We are also very happy to only get involved in a certain design stages where you think, that our services might be  particularly valuable for you. E.g. illustrating an existing design or your ideas, building a stunning model or mock-up according to your plan.

Usually we make you an attractive offer for each stage of design you are planning to involve us in. That helps you to easily understand what you will get for your money. According to project we either charge a agreed sum or a hourly rate.

For larger projects and special demands: We are very happy to team up with other experts and some friends in the design industry to making sure you will get the best possible designs for your budget.

Christian is founder and art director of Design Cell Europe. Prior to establishing Design Cell Europe he gained more than 10 years experience in designing and project managing yacht and cruise vessel whilst being employed at world famous Yacht Designer Tony Castro (UK) and the southern German interior specialist stinova GmbH.

He has been also working for global players like the BMW Group as well as freelancing for small high profile brands like Pininfarina. 

Christian studied Product Design at well-known Bauhaus University in Weimar and graduated in Transportation Design at world famous Pforzheim University, Germany.

Christian also has been a guest lecturer at Burg Giebichenstein, University of Art and Design in Halle (Germany) for many years. 

Christian is fluent in English and lives with his family in beautiful southern Germany, Baden-Württemberg, Ortenau, next to Strasbourg (France), where most of his designs are being created.
